Before I tell you whether you can get rid of acne from your face or not, I need to tell you a little bit about acne. What exactly is acne? Let’s take a look at this question so we understand a bit more about this skin disease. If you are reading this article, then I’m sure that either you or someone you know is suffering from acne. Acne is characterize by the tiny or big pimples on your face, which can be in red or brown color.
In teenagers, they commonly appear on the face as they undergo hormonal changes. However, they are not just limited to the face, they can appear in other body parts as well. Your back and arms are another common area for pimples to appear.
So what causes acne? It occurs due to the infection in the sebaceous glands of your skin. These are the glands that produce the oil for your skin. Once your fight off acne, you are left with what is called acne scars. They also take a while to go away and if not taken care of properly, can do permanent damage to your skin.
Usually, the type of acne you have is placed in three categories; mild, moderate and severe. Now, whether you get scars or not, depends on the kind of acne you are suffering from.
How to Remove Acne Scars?
The answer to this question requires us to look at and understand what kind of acne scars we have. If you just had really mild acne, then you don’t need any harsh treatment for the scars. Scars resulting from mild acne usually disappear on its own without anything special required from your side. But, if you have moderate or severe acne, then you might need to see your dermatologist and improve the condition of your skin. Once the condition of the skin is optimal, it makes it easy for the scars to heal.
Let’s now look at some of the techniques that are used to remove the acne scars from face and other parts of your body. Some of these techniques can be expensive for some people. If you can’t afford these, don’t worry, there are other options that you can explore that are a lot cheaper, comparatively.
There are a lot of resurfacing treatments that are available at your dermatologist’s office. This procedure is actually performed by a certified dermatologist and it pretty good at removing scars. What this procedure does is that it kills the cells in the top layer of your skin, and also tightens the middle layer. As a result of this, new cells form at the top and skin become smoother. In order to perform this procedure, you will be given local anesthesia in most cases and the procedure itself lasts only up to about an hour.
Since it’s a laser procedure, there’s not a huge recovery time associated with it. You will usually recover within 3-10 days at most.
This is another procedure that is a little bit more intensive. It works on the same principle as the one described above for the laser. Dermabrasion roller has really fine needles that when rolled onto acne prone skin, take off a very tiny layer. Once that happens, more cells form to recover that area and the new cells that make up are smooth. This procedure takes a little bit more time to heal than it does with laser procedures. It takes anywhere between 10 days to three weeks to recover.
